MotoBuddy is a motorcycle maintenance log. This policy explains what the app does with your information, in plain language.
The short version: your bikes, your fill-ups, your expenses and your service records stay on your phone. They are not uploaded, not backed up to us, and not shared with anyone. We could not read them if we wanted to, because they never reach us.
Everything you type into MotoBuddy is stored only in the app’s own storage on your iPhone:
None of this is transmitted anywhere. There are no accounts and no sign-in, so there is nothing to link this data to a person.
Backups you create yourself. MotoBuddy can export your records as a file so you can keep a copy. That file is produced only when you ask for it, and it goes wherever you send it using the iOS share sheet — Files, iCloud Drive, email, another app. Once it leaves MotoBuddy, that destination’s own privacy policy applies. We never see it.
Reminders. Service reminders are scheduled locally by your iPhone. They are not push notifications, no server is involved, and no reminder content leaves the device.
MotoBuddy uses Google Firebase to understand whether the app is working and how it is used. Google acts as our service provider and processes this data on our behalf. Three things are collected:
Crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics). When MotoBuddy crashes, a report is sent describing what the app was doing when it failed: the point in the code, the device model, and the iOS and app versions. This is used only to fix the crash.
Usage data (Firebase Analytics). Which screens are opened and which features are used — for example, that a fill-up was recorded — so we can see which parts of the app matter. The contents of your records are not included: we may learn that a fill-up was logged, never what you paid or where.
A per-install identifier. Firebase generates a random identifier for each installation so that events from one phone can be grouped together. It is not your name, your email, your phone number or your Apple ID, and it is not the advertising identifier. Deleting and reinstalling the app produces a new one.
We do not sell data, and we do not share it with data brokers or advertisers.
MotoBuddy checks with Firebase Remote Config for settings such as whether an update is available. This asks a question and receives an answer; none of your records are sent as part of it. If the check fails or you are offline, the app carries on working normally.
MotoBuddy is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Records on your device are kept until you delete them or delete the app. Crash reports and usage data are retained by Firebase according to Google’s retention settings, currently up to 14 months, after which they are deleted automatically.
If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Significant changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
